GM Men take Silver at Region Sides

The Region Sides competition was held at Moama & Echuca over the weekend in cold, wet and windy conditions. All players are to be congratulated on representing the region and giving it their all in such frigid conditions.

The men’s side had a successful tournament, winning six of their seven round robin matches, before taking on Metro West in the final of the gold section. They started off slowly in the final, but came back to be level with three ends to play. In true nail biting fashion the last bowl cemented the draw and all rinks had to play an extra end. Unfortunately the boys were unable to maintain the momentum and went down by one shot. Although the result may seem disappointing it was a fantastic effort by all players over the weekend to achieve the silver medal.

The ladies were unable to emulate the men’s success, only winning two of their seven round robin matches. However they played some fantastic bowls against quality competition.
