Goulburn Murray victors over Ovens & Murray

Last Sunday a team from the Goulburn Murray Region travelled to Corowa to take on a team from the Ovens & Murray Region. On a day better suited to bowling than has been the case for most of this season, spectators were treated to some high quality bowls.

The Goulburn Murray men were dominant on the day and won all three rounds of matches, giving them a points score of 9:0. Unfortunately the tables were turned in the women’s section, with Ovens & Murray winning all three rounds giving them a 9:0 point score.

With the points being equal the end result came down to shots up – Goulburn Murray +32 and Ovens & Murray +30 – giving the overall victory and trophy to Goulburn Murray. Well done to all bowlers from both regions for some wonderful games played in great spirit.

The best winning rinks in both sections were also recognized. In the men’s section the top two rinks both had 2 wins and a draw, so once again the honours were decided by shots up. The rink of Mark Ryan, Charlie Boswood, Col Power and Jacob Cartwright came out on top of the rink of Guy Madigan, David Cartwright, Tim Gribble and Joe Luci by 2 shots.

In the Women’s section there were two rinks who won all games. The top rink on shots up was the Ovens & Murray rink skipped by Mary Paton, and the other was the rink of Lidija Patching, Kerry Baldacchino, Liz Rees and Marianne Kirk from Goulburn Murray
